CONGRATULATIONS!

Wow! Congrats to you both!

I had stupid amounts of nausea (although no actual vomiting). Some of which was brought on by them giving me extra progesterone, we think, but I was still fairly miserable with Katie too (when I refused the extra progesterone). It is pretty common to lose weight in the first trimester because of lack of eating/throwing everything up.

Are you looking for any new ideas for helping quell the morning sickness, or have you just given up? If you are, I can dredge my memory for anything that helped me or my friends. Either way, I can sincerely sympathise. It totally sucked, and is another indication that Intelligent Design is poorly named ;-)

Nah, thanks for the offer, but it is a lot better now (not actually throwing up any more, just feeling queasy-ish) & since studies have shown that nothing really helps more than a placebo I'm not really fussed about trying more placebos! :-}

Re: CONGRATULATIONS!

I always viewed it more as finding something that worked for me personally. I don't think that any of these flavors is in some way changing body chemistry, but that for different people - and possibly different for every one of their pregnancies - there are different flavors and/or textures that help. With Jamie's pregnancy I ate a lot of dry crackers, for instance, and drank Lucozade (or the nearest American equivalent). With Katie I sucked Preggie Drops which are citrus flavored boiled sweets. I couldn't get enough of them while I was pregnant but I found them strangely unpalatable after she was born. For me it was a case of trying different things people recommended until I found something that helped me. I never expected there to be something that worked for everyone.
