Congratulations! Growing a baby is bloody exhausting (I used to sleep in the car on the way home from work and then fall asleep on the settee after dinner until Dave told me to go to bed), so rest!

Enjoy the bits of pregnancy that you can, and ignore all the old wives' tales and advice that you want - you'll get a lot.

Just so long as you weren't driving! ;)

Hm. To be honest I'm still baffled by the idea that I would "enjoy" any of it! I don't enjoy throwing up, feeling queasy, having constant wind/indigestion/etc, being tired, dragging an enormous weight of extra belly around with me, waking up in the middle of every night... Other than that, it's just getting on with my life but with all the above stuff slowing me down & making me less good at doing my job & less likely to enjoy socialising. I mean, I do enjoy lots of the stuff I do in my day-to-day life, but I'd enjoy it a lot more if I didn't feel ill. And of course I'm looking forward to having a child (I mean, the bit where I've got a child -- definitely not looking forward to giving birth), but the process of getting there seems much more like a necessary evil than something I could ever enjoy! No way I'm doing it again, that's for sure.

The only way I can imagine it being fun is if I really got off on the idea of weeing in a plastic cup. :-}

I really, really enjoyed the huge unexpected burps. Seriously. Proper rugby-player burps. Fantastic! And I loved it when YoungBloke got the hiccups and my whole belly ticked. So did one of my colleagues, the only person I said (other than OldBloke) could touch the belly without having to ask, she thought that bit was incredibly funny and I used to call her to visit my office when the hiccups started.

Regarding maternity trousers, I bought two good quality pairs. I expanded so much I broke the elastic in one.

Ah well, it takes all sorts. :-} For me, the trapped wind is sometimes so uncomfortable/painful that it stops me getting to sleep, & the burps/farts never actually relieve it, & the burps always taste of something icky & bitter (unrelated to what I've eaten).

I have yet to experience the 'joy' of internal hiccups...

The baby moving around and being visible from the outside is either massively cool or utterly weirding in an alien kinda way. I liked it personally but it was v odd.
