They told me I should have a diary,
A journal for my thoughts and dreams and fears --
But who would want to read stuff about me?

I can't imagine who would want to see
My ramblings, my ravings, my ideas.
They told me I should have a diary,

But look at just how long it's taken me
To join the latest craze with all my peers.
And who would want to read stuff about me?

Still, now I have a place where I am free
To speak -- and never mind if no-one hears.
They told me I should have a diary

So here I am, beginning. This is me:
Here you can share my laughter and my tears.
To those who want to read stuff about me --
You told me I should have a diary.
