<cake> - shadows of echoes of memories of songs — LiveJournal
My cakes page now has a picture of the web page cake I made for work.

I've decided that my objection to taking commissions for cakes is not so much about the decorating as the fact that I'm getting quite bored of the process of making and icing cakes. If somebody presented me with a ready-made, ready-iced cake and a design brief, I'd probably quite happily take it on. The decorating is so much fun to do when it works out right.

Current Mood: cake-happy

Oi, don't close the tag, I haven't done the cake for Saturday yet!

Beautiful, pure art in confectionery. Some of that calligraphy is amazing. I was particularly impressed with your pyramid, but then I would be.

That looks lovely. Wish I'd been in Mill Lane yesterday :)

Oh, and belated happy birthday.

I'm really sorry -- I should have checked first!

I think there is still some cake left in the fridge, if you're here today... and everybody has very carefully avoided eating the bits with the design on them, so you'll probably still be able to see it...

[feels very guilty]

No no no, I just meant to see it in person. Don't feel guilty. I did _get_ the office email and I could have made an excuse to drop in, but it's ok, it's just cake.

I won't be in Mill Lane until Monday, so really, don't worry.

There are chocolates in the CamSIS offices today, anyway.

Cool. Every cake webpage should have a webpage cake.

How old is your cake webpage? Will it get a cake-webpage cake on its birthday, and then get photographed for the webpage? Itwsbt.

I don't think my cakes page is good enough to merit a birthday celebration... the whole site is in desperate need of redesign, but, you know, cobbler's children, webmaster's homepage, etc.

I do love the idea of recursive cake though. I did one for my mum's birthday once, the cake was done to look like a table with patterned tablecloth, and on the table there was a vase of flowers, a candlestick, some presents (licquorice allsorts with 'ribbons' piped round them!), a birthday card (I cheated and made a small paper card... oh, actually I cheated on the flowers as well, they were plastic) and a cake which looked like the cake, IYSWIM. The miniature cake still had all the stuff on it (including a paper card which was about 3mm high) but the cake on that cake was just a blob by that point, so I couldn't go any further.

What did you have by way of cakery for your birthday other than that, or was the cake you made for work the cake you had for the year?

You might enjoy my girlfriend's birthday cake, too. She is mad keen on ducks and there was copious awwwwwww!ing upon first sight.

Sweet! Did you make that one then?

The cake I made for work was the only cake I had on my actual birthday, but I'm making another cake for the party on Saturday. (Did you say you were coming? I have lost track rather... Come to that, did you see the invite (on LJ)? Now having crisis of wassname... agh)

Not me - credit for that goes to selkie28.

I did see the invite and appreciate it, but all the travelling I do these days seems to revolve around Meg. She's coming to the country for a painfully short long weekend at the end of the month, so I'm saving up (translation: "not spending") with that in mind. :-) All the same, I hope you had a fantastic party tonight!
