Barbecued jam - shadows of echoes of memories of songs — LiveJournal
Barbecued jam
Excellent BBQ party at angua's yesterday -- good food, good b33r (though I only had half a pint because I was driving) and excellent company. The Greatest Hits of the 80s were played to excess. I ended up in a stairs-party, which became an under-the-table-party, with ottah and daneel_olivaw where we talked about lesbonyms, bra sizes, Morrissey, and other such interesting things. And it was discovered that glow-sticks illuminate cleavages very well.

My clever plan to not drink b33r (so that I could drive home) failed to take into consideration the fact that if I don't drink b33r, I will drink coke, and after 3.5 litres of coke I am really not safe to drive. *twitch* *twitch* Fortunately we stayed long enough that I could drink gallons of water and by the time we headed home (about 3am?) I was okay again. Though strangely enough I didn't sleep terribly well...

Still, got up earlyish (feeling quite, um, awake) to go and buy tickets for the Folk Festival. The queue went all the way round the Corn Exchange box office -- right round to the market! -- but it was a very friendly queue, and quite a nice way to spend 2 hours really: standing around in the sunshine talking to interesting people, and listening to NOI.D. (very good young folk band) play trad Irish folk to entertain the queue. And the good thing about getting talking to your neighbours in the queue is that they'll hold your place when you want to nip out and get coffee and olives from the market. :-)

Going to go and do some tidying, put another wash on, make cake, eat olives, and possibly get round to a) trying to learn to use my sewing machine, b) starting the alterations to my silly dress for Glastonbury, and c) taking photos of some of the stuff that I want to sell on Amazon and eBay. Or maybe I'll just laze around and read and enjoy the fact that I don't have to get up for work, Oxfam, or ticket-buying tomorrow...

Current Mood: still caffeinated

Sounds good :) What's a lesbonym?

And is the hands-on sewing-machine workshop a viable plan, and if so, when? (No problem if not, I just thought that if we're going to do it I'd better work out when we're both free.)

That reminds me... Maplin have some glo-rings very cheap which may be jugglable. Must go and check them out - and lust after the RC hovercraft again.
