I see tickets...
Or not.

I did actually see the "book now" link! But when I followed it, it went back to the "EPIC FAIL" page. The one where the seetickets homepage doesn't explain to anybody who might not be interested in Glastonbury tickets

Good luck to anybody else who's trying to get through...

http://www.seetickets.com/g2008/regform.asp?orig=uk

ETA: I have bought tickets for me and my mum. Now trying to use the spare booking windows I had open for other people!

ETA: Okay, look, I can fairly reliably get a booking window up, but when you hit submit (with reg no, or even with cc details etc) it can still bounce you back to the 'busy' screen, leaving you with no idea whether you've submitted anything. FAIL FAIL FAIL. I am very reluctant to take responsibility for other people's bookings when it is this flaky, after possibly screwing up mpinna's. But if you want me to try, let me know....

ETA I am not trying again for anybody because it is ALL THE FAIL. It should not be able to reset the connection while submitting your credit card details, and if it does, then it should be bloody clear on whether or not this means your booking has gone through. As it is, the registration numbers all come up as "already used" but there's no indication that the payment has been accepted. ARGH.

I'm tempted to risk it, but don't want to put you in any awkwardness if it's so unreliable. So far ChrisC and I have four machines on four different connections in two locations and two phones, and we've not seen a sniff of a booking form in the last hour :(

Gah, still FAIL for me.

Although the "service busy" window is coming up reliably now, which is an improvement.
j4 From: j4 Date: April 6th, 2008 08:50 am (UTC) (Link)
see ETA on my post - I can get the booking form but I don't trust it because their service is still SO FUCKING FLAKY.
julietk From: julietk Date: April 6th, 2008 08:55 am (UTC) (Link)
Argh um not sure! Given flakiness etc... (thank you for offer! May take you up on it shortly.)

My suspicion would be that the "busy" response = "not submitted" & that submitting again would be the correct thing to do. (Although that is SO UNBELIEVABLY SHIT. Even worse than last time.) ISTR they've said that if ppl accidentally get duplicates they'll sort it out.

See emails (to earth address).

Thank you v v much! Not to worry if seetickets goes tits up YET A BLOODY GAIN, obv.

Just to reiterate: NOT YOUR FAULT. Might just as easily have happened to me. When the website is accessible again I will contact them to find out what the situation is & by GOD I will kick up if need be.

I idly wondered earlier this year about going to Bayreuth to see a Wagner opera, preferably the Ring cycle. Turns out, the way you get to go to Bayreuth is that you apply for tickets, you are turned down, you do that for about ten or fifteen years, and eventually your name comes up and you get a ticket. Nein danke. But they could do something similar with Glastonbury - get all the applications, allocate tickets by lottery, and then the following year give priority to the people who didn't get tickets last year.

I'm with Owen on Glastonbury, though.

Do you have the source code to the registration page? I seem to remember two Glastonburys ago it was possible to load that up manually and then just keep trying to click the submit button..
j4 From: j4 Date: April 6th, 2008 09:02 am (UTC) (Link)
Okay!

http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~janetmck/glasto.html

BTW when you get past that, all the regnos and postcodes are encoded in the URL:

http://www.seetickets.com/g2008/chkreg.asp?regno4=1234206~CB238AF®no3=1261875~NW53AU®no2=1253916~S101UY®no1=1203068~E20NF&

(those have already been used, just given as an example!)

awesome, thank you!
j4 From: j4 Date: April 6th, 2008 09:06 am (UTC) (Link)
Oh, but, hang on, relative links. Argh. Will try to fix.
uon From: uon Date: April 6th, 2008 09:07 am (UTC) (Link)
don't worry about it, it's a big mess of javascript; the tickets would probably be sold out by the time it's all fixed. Thanks anyway!

*hides under a rock making dismal squeaking noises*
julietk From: julietk Date: April 6th, 2008 09:43 am (UTC) (Link)
nononono, it is SEETICKETS' rock. Except they shouldn't be under a rock, they should be WRITING A SYSTEM THAT BLOODY WORKS PROPERLY.

Or we could crush them with the rock.
uon From: uon Date: April 6th, 2008 09:46 am (UTC) (Link)
Throw them into the long drops. It's the only way to be sure.
uon From: uon Date: April 6th, 2008 09:44 am (UTC) (Link)
Thank you *so much* for trying! Srsly!

(I am still hitting reload and redial on the off chance that I get through so I can get a dupe id error, Just In Case, because I'm feeling monumentally bloodyminded...)
j4 From: j4 Date: April 6th, 2008 09:51 am (UTC) (Link)
I managed to get a duplicate id error with yr registration number on the web (argh, should've screenshotted, sorry!) but now can only get 'service unavailable'.

hate hate hate seetickets
julietk From: julietk Date: April 6th, 2008 09:59 am (UTC) (Link)
No worry re screenshot: doubt it would have helped.

It looks like once you get to the front page, you're good for 5 min to get through the forms. At that point, you get a *different* busy error. Things I have also seen after that point:
- entirely blank page, no data at all
- IIS busy error.
- Connection reset error.

The "good for 5 min" thing seems reasonable. But at that point, they should be certain that their server can handle however many requests they're letting through. It seems that it can't.

BAD BAD BAD.
julietk From: julietk Date: April 6th, 2008 10:07 am (UTC) (Link)
I've just got the same again & have screenshotted.
j4 From: j4 Date: April 6th, 2008 10:21 am (UTC) (Link)
FWIW mpinna had the same submit-falls-over then registration-numbers-already-used thing, and he's just got a confirmation email! Still keeping fingers crossed for yours......
julietk From: julietk Date: April 6th, 2008 11:01 am (UTC) (Link)
doop says it's appeared! Hurrah! Thank you so much, & sorry for it causing you stress!
uon From: uon Date: April 6th, 2008 11:02 am (UTC) (Link)
WE HAVE TICKETS! Confirmation email just came in now.

j4, I love you for ever!

CONFIRMATION EMAIL

I got the confirmation email, looks like it went through perfectly :-) :-) :-)

Re: CONFIRMATION EMAIL

How long did it take you to get your confirmation email? We put all of our details and payment and then it didn't get through to the next page. When we've tried to go through again it's saying our reg details have already been used. Did this happen to you?
j4 From: j4 Date: April 6th, 2008 10:28 am (UTC) (Link)

Re: CONFIRMATION EMAIL

Paid for mine at 9:11 and just got the confirmation email now. That one went through with no problems, but the two other bookings I did for other sets of people had the same problem (submit payments, connection fails, subsequent attempts say registration numbers have already been used). ONE of those sets of people has just got their confirmation email but the other hasn't yet..... fingers crossed for everybody!!
mpinna From: mpinna Date: April 6th, 2008 10:29 am (UTC) (Link)

Re: CONFIRMATION EMAIL

Yes, that's almost exactly what happened to me. The email took 60-90 minutes to come through.

Re: CONFIRMATION EMAIL

Thanks for your help everyone - fingers crossed I'll get a confirmation email through at some point. If not, will have to try again in a month or so.
